Strongman.Training is an earnest effort to bridge the gap between athletes learning the sport and people who want to participate in the sport at an organizational level as coaches, promoters, and business owners.
Katie and Brian Feeley are the primary drivers behind Strongman.Training. They are long-time strength athletes and coaches, former gym owners, perpetual learners, and general strongman enthusiasts.
Throughout their time in the strongman community, Katie and Brian saw a distinct lack of resources for individuals at the organization level. So much of the content that currently exists is geared toward athletes, and very little is geared toward the people who make the infrastructure of the sport tick. Most of us were (and still are) just flying blind.
But it doesn’t have to be that way! There are so many great coaches and promoters out there, most of whom are excited about strongman and want to share their knowledge.
In the tradition of the sport, we learn from those who came before us, and we pass on to those who come after. Strongman.Training is a way to gather that knowledge in one place and create a resource for learning, sharing, and becoming better together.
Join the Sharing!
We’ve been around the block a few times, but we certainly don’t know everything! Our greatest hope is that Strongman.Training becomes a place where coaches, promoters, and business owners can share their knowledge, experiences, and best practices. If you have something to contribute, please reach out! You can reach us at strongmandottraining@gmail.com.

Some big projects we’re working on:
- Comprehensive “how-to” guide for promoters
- Guide to starting and operating a successful strongman/strength-based facility
- Rules and Standards of Strongman: gathering all the random “insider knowledge” stuff we learn along the way that isn’t necessarily written down somewhere into one place (like lockout and down command standards, common implement weights at different competition levels, how “last man standing” and auction systems work, and strongman-specific rules like “logs can’t rest on your head”)
Meet Katie and Brian
The Feeleys are lifelong athletes (term used loosely) and have been ingrained in the strength community since the 2000s. They founded Power Plant Gym in 2015 and have been competing in and promoting strength competitions since 2011. Though they sold the gym in 2023, they remain active in the strength community and are committed to growing and caring for the sports that have given them so much.
Katie (she/her) is a small business owner, competition promoter, strongman state representative, and business coach. She’s coached athletes ranging in age from 5-75 and in experience from first-timer to professional. Katie’s first strongman competition was in 2012, and she was completely hooked. She started promoting strongman competitions in 2016 and has since promoted, chaired, volunteered, and coached at more events than she can count – from local parking lot shows to the biggest stages in the sport. She’s learned a lot along the way, and launched Strongman.Training to keep learning and share knowledge with others.
Brian (he/him) has been lifting since the early 2000s. He’s competed in CrossFit (though he rarely admits it), Olympic-style weightlifting, and strongman. He’s a front-end developer by day, and provides the technical support for Strongman.Training. Brian also coaches strongman and weightlifting, but his biggest job is making sure Katie maintains her (relative) sanity while promoting events and running their joint ventures. He has a ton of gratitude and respect for the strength community and is excited to contribute to its growth with Strongman.Training.
